Diaphragm Valve Vs Bellows Valve

The "competition between Lined Diaphragm Valve and bellows valves" has a long history.

The diaphragm valve is a special form of shut-off valve without a stuffing box. It relies on a soft rubber mold or plastic film to achieve a sealed state, thereby ensuring no internal leakage. It is mainly rubber-lined valves and fluorine-lined valves with a simple structure. The diaphragm is replaceable and the maintenance cost is low. The bellows valve is a valve that uses a bellows as a stem sealing element. It has a double sealing design (bellows + packing). If the bellows fails, the stem packing will also be avoided; because it has high requirements for stem sealing, it can generally be used in high vacuum and nuclear industries. The installation inclination of different diaphragm valve types, diaphragm valves produced by different manufacturers, and diaphragm valves with different nominal flow rates is different. Due to this difference, when using a diaphragm valve in a horizontal pipeline, the diaphragm valve must be installed in the horizontal pipeline at the angle specified by the manufacturer, otherwise the diaphragm valve will encounter some unnecessary problems when emptying, resulting in the inability to completely discharge the medium in the valve body. The bellows valve is a relatively new type of gate valve. It has a simple structure and is widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, urban water supply and drainage and other working conditions that require strict shutoff. There will be no "dead corner" when the process equipment is in load control operation, thus ensuring a tight separation of the pipeline. Although the bellows valve is slightly better in technology, it is difficult to compete with the diaphragm valve due to objective factors such as high cost and too few types and specifications in the market. Different types of work, different needs, the advantages and disadvantages of diaphragm valves and bellows are also determined according to different actual conditions. As the saying goes, benevolence in one's own eyes, wise men in their own eyes.
